I'm really confused here. Apparently HXFSetup.exe is a product of Conexant and used for modems but the thing is that I don't have a modem. I use a broadband connection and that's it! I don't remember seeing it in the Programs folder before. The file is located in C:\Programs\CONEXANT\CNXT_MODEM_PCI_VEN_8086&DEV_266D&SUBSYS_058B17FF. Is it safe to delete this file and entire folder (the CONEXANT folder that is) or does my laptop need this? I use Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer as my browser.
Thanks,

Run
hijackthis and then run it through the
automated analysis and it should give you some information on this application and whether it is safe to delete

I didn't have HiJackThis so I had to download it but when I ran it, it didn't find the HXFSetup.exe file so I have no idea if it's safe or not to remove. Thanks anyway!

you are correct that it is a driver for that particular modem, if you don't have that modem then by all means delete the file and entire folder
