im redesigning my site biggrin.gif

It looks cool, I can't understnad what the first word says though lol.

I'm not sure about anyone else but I don't particularly like sites with banners like that. It seems a bit, err, I don't know, amatureish. You'll never see a professional site with a banner designed like that, tends to be fan sites and the such. Just my 2 cents worth smile.gif

The background is cool but I don't like the font.

But I agree with sjthomas

well your gonna have to show me a proffessional banner for a tattoo flash design website then, i wasnt designing for microsoft or something, its more of a personal based business for tattoo genre artwork, i think it fits the audience.

thanks for the critique:D

just out of curiosity what do you consider a good professional banner?
im asking seriously i want to analyze and see, maybe i will pick something up.
sjthomas
If thats what the banner is for then its cool, I saw the word design and immediately assumed that it was for a web design site or something of that nature. Its good for a contemporary arts site though.

As for professional banners, hmm, I think simplicity os best so a company like Amazon has an incredibly simple banner/logo yet its instantly recognisable. Something that can be simple enough to be elegant yet have something baout it that makes it memorable si perfect. But then again I'm thinking of a professional business type website, I guess for arty type stuff you would go just for memorable. I'd be interested in seeing the design when its finished cause sometimes sites with a dense banner like the one oyu have end up being a bit cluttered and dark looking.

try to imagine your logo on a white shirt. if it doesnt look good, then your logo isnt professional.

yeh its for a tattoo design website so not even contemporary art really lol, if i was doing something else it would be 100% different style, i can do the elegant stuff if i have to, the site should be up soon in a few weeks time.

im gonna have to look at amazon since i usually just buy books at the local booktore, i honestly havent really frequented the amazon.com site.

banners are something that you really have to see the rest of the site to judge it. it either goes or it dosen't. you can have the best banner ever, but if it dosen't go with the site then it sucks. if it fits the theme of your site and you like it, then go for it. it's your site. all of us can say whatever we want about it, but it's you that makes the final decision.

what is the url of the site that it's going to be on?
Josh
That's something else I was going to mention.

I can't imagine how that banner would fit in with a site. I think you need to take the bevel + emboss off the edges and somehow make a design around it.
