Everytime I open Windows Media Player it always creates a folder in My Documents called 'My Music'. This is a real pain as it has no use since all my music is stored is a completely hard drive, my question is this:

Is there any way to stop WMP creating this folder altogether?

Any feedback is appreciated, thanks.

Problem solved smile.gif

Windows Media Player is monitoring a folder which appears to be on your system, only when you delete it and then open WMP it sees that the folder doesn't exist so it creates it.

To stop this from happening look at the attached image, click on the 'Media Library' tab then then click the 'Manage Folders' button, a new window will open, it will contain the location of the folder that WMP uses for its music (the one that we don't want) simply click this folder and click 'remove'

Now the folder will never come back smile.gif

I know this isn't exactly what you want, but it might be a suitable workaround. I'm still looking for the exact answer, though smile.gif

This article describes how to change the location of your My Music folder. You should be able to point it to your 2nd hard drive and store your files there.

/*Edit

just saw your post...I noticed that and wondered if it would to the trick, but I use my My Music folder and didn't want to test it...

I tried renaming my My Music folder and testing it, but WMP doesn't seem to behave like yours. It didn't recreate the My Music folder. Maybe it's because I don't have any file associations to it?

What if you go to Tools > Options > Copy Music and change the location to where it copies music?

i've done that, i've tried everything sad.gif

or at least everything i can think of
