what is a good amount of bandwidth to have?
bassrek
Hard to day; it all depends on what you're doing with your site and the amount of traffic you're getting. You should expect to pay about $1/GB, though wink.gif

yup entirely depends on your needs. If your site is graphics intense then a good amount of badnwidth is needed, but you see many hosting accounts offering bandwidth in the tens of Gbs, 20Gb 30Gb 40GB, which really is overkill in most cases. Weborum , which is getting around 1000 uniques (less this holiday month) a day, 4000 page views a day and uses around 5Gb a month.

How much bandwidth has your site been using so far?

the site with one graphic? not much. enough to share an account with my brother (www.justinbrown.tk)*. I'm making a new site for a few friends of mine. and I'm trying to find out how much bandwidth to buy. I saw an equation for it somewhere. I'll try to find it.

if you wanna check it out, I suggest that you DON'T use firefox

then you need to calulate your friend's bandwidth needs. start of with something normal because it's easy to upgrade. Try for 20-30GB smile.gif, also depends how much you wanna spend.

Click on the link in my signature. There are a couple data transfer "bandwidth" calculators at the bottom the page. They are great tools to figure out how much you will need.
